Use of medical plants as educational strategyin the escuela normal superior of Quindio – seat Rojas Pinilla

Scientific education at school is focused on the development of scientific thinking. In this way, scientific competence is what enables students to articulate the thought processes used in school activities and those of the student themselves, to basic scientific content or biological, physical, chemical, ecological processes, in order to build concepts based on mental processes that students use when they manipulate and relate the information they receive from the environment and associate it with real and experiential facts.

The development of different activities with students plays a role very important in their process of academic training; for this reason is necessary consider carry out a pedagogic project in which the students find applicability from the point of view academic and in their daily living.

The principal topic for put into practice this project is the culture of medicinal plants keep in mind that the health is the base or reason of all human being, this way also pick the traditional knows that in the community are attributed for the treatment of different diseases; all this correlated with the topics about natural sciences that the students works in the eighth and ninth grade.

As result, was elaborated a vegetable garden with 12 different medicinal plants, on which the students make the land adequacy, sowing and reproduction of the plants. Also was realized survey of knows, notebooks informative to level institutional and finally was elaborated a foldable with information about the plants largest use reported by the community.

In conclusion, the strategy of implementation of the culture of medicinal plants, served as a laboratory pedagogic, in which the students applied the learned knowledge in class and they contributing to practices solutions for their families and their community.
